About Me
Valentina Sisto was born in Bari in1976. She choosed Rome, place where she lives and works today, as her city of adoption.
Valentina has felt a deep passion towards art since the young age, particularly restoration, discipline to which she dedicated her formation at ISTES, the Institute of Touristic and Social Sciences, Art and Restoration in Lecce.
After having worked for many years as restorer of fine arts for different agencies of the Archaeological Superintendency as well as freelance, she started to develop her personal artistic way.
Through her work Valentina has quickly matured a great familiarity with different materials and techniques and a deep knowledge of art history, which allowed her to develop her own language of artistic expression.
Her research declines in artworks which often manifest as paintings which overcome the traditional bidimensionality of canvas to explore the third dimension. Valentina’s art works fully mirror her artistic development, from her practice in art studios to the strong will of experiencing innovative techniques and materials.
Curiosity and interest for contemporary world and society translate into artworks of great impact and sensitivity. This research focuses on human being and the multiple faces which characterize its inner dimension.
Valentina’s art is based on the relationship with the subject, even though it doesn’t manifest as canonic portraits. In 2014 she participated to #befreefromviolence, campaign against domestic violence at Spazio Factory Pelanda with her artwork “ Istant”. She goes beyond the physicality of the subject to shape the most intimate and impalpable aspects of its personality.

In 2018 Valentina joined “OncoArte”, a project which aims to integrate artistic with breast cancer research. In 2019 she participated in Roma Art Week event by transforming the Clinique in an Art gallery and in 2021 in the exhibition “Art shows itself” at Palazzo Ferrajoli.
In 2020, during the Covid-19, she supported through her art “Tor Vergata” University in the project “Give a Smile” and the National Institute for Infective
Diseases “Lazzaro Spallanzani” by joining the project “ Masks face of Victory ”in collaboration with Victory Art Gallery in Rome.
In 2021 she joined “B-Jesus-“ Nativity scene of the Future” project, gathering more than 80 artists from all over the world, placed in Rome and curated by the stylist Guillermo Mariotto.
At the same time she gave birth to her own brand CurArte, through which Valentina wants to promote her personal holistic approach to physical and psychological wellness.
